The NEW Serengeti CUSTOM Rifle

Kilimanjaro Quality & Beauty At A More Affordable Price

With new precision equipment, Kilimanjaro Rifles now has the ability to more affordably create our unique stock geometries in standard configurations from the finest American Walnut. For those hunters that cannot yet afford to treat themselves to the ultimate, full custom rifle experience of our flagship Kilimanjaro Rifle, the New Serengeti Custom Rifle is our semi-custom offering at a substantially reduced starting price, but with all of Kilimanjaro's legendary quality, beauty and accuracy.

Featuring our proprietary Stealth Lamination for superior strength and stability, the New Serengeti Rifle is available in your choice of virtually any chambering, right or left hand, Monte Carlo or straight comb, in any of our six most popular stock geometries, and in lengths of pull from 13.0 to 14.25 inches—over 6,000 different possible base configurations for your perfect rifle, even before considering the various options which can be added. Only at Kilimanjaro is such a wide-array of choices considered "semi-custom." The multitude of different possible configurations exceeds the customization options from almost any other so-called custom rifle maker. For the true full custom experience, the Kilimanjaro Rifle remains the pinnacle of the industry.

For the New Serengeti Custom Rifle, the specification and creation of your perfect custom rifle is easy in ten simple steps, and we are here to assist you at each step along the way:

  1. Choose your cartridge;
  2. Select the stock geometry that fits you best and is most suitable for your chosen cartridge;
  3. Select between Ebony, Ironwood or Rosewood for contrasting forearm, grip and cross-bolt caps;
  4. Decide between a Monte Carlo or American straight comb;
  5. Select left or right hand;
  6. Choose your barrel length;
  7. Choose your length of pull;
  8. Select your choice of color for the premium ceramic metal coating;
  9. Decide if you will need 1" or 30mm scope rings;
  10. Pick from the various extra price options and upgrades listed below.

The NEW Serengeti Rifle features:

Stealth Lamination:

Our proprietary Stealth Lamination provides greater strength and stability while preserving the full figure, grain and beauty of the wood. It provides all the stability of a synthetic stock but with the beauty, sound qualities and superior feel of fine walnut. You may also choose an un-laminated wood stock if you prefer.

Action:

Our Serengeti Rifle Action is standard and provides the best of the Mauser 98, Winchester Pre-64 and Sako actions in a premier hunting and dangerous game action. Available in both right and left hand versions, it features full controlled-round feed, a Mauser style claw extractor, and three-position shroud mounted safety. If you select our Tigercat Geometry (available only in right hand), your New Serengeti Custom Rifle will be built around the lighter weight Kimber 84M or 84L actions, but also feature full controlled-round feed, a Mauser style claw extractor, and three-position shroud-mounted safety.

Chambering:

Virtually any cartridge chambering is possible, including most wild-cats, from 22-250 up to 458 Lott utilizing a case head from 0.473 to 0.534. Chambering in Rigby/Lapua/Gibbs class cartridges is not yet available on the New Serengeti Custom Rifle, but is of course available in our Kilimanjaro and Doctari rifles.

Barrel:

A free-floated match grade stainless steel barrel to your specification of length, contour, twist and crown is included from your choice of barrel makers. We utilize only the highest grade of barrels from the most quality conscious barrel makers like Pac Nor, Douglas, Shilen, Lilja and Krieger, but every barrel goes through our own independent testing for verification of accuracy and consistency.

AAA Grade American Walnut Stock:

We choose your wood blank from our selection of the finest AAA grade American Walnut. Based on the geometry you select, your stock is carved and inlet using our new precision equipment. As with all of Kilimanjaro's rifles, however, the final shaping and fitting is still done by hand under the supervision of our Master Gunsmith. As an option, you may select an upgrade to any of our Special Select Circassian Walnut, Exhibition or Premier wood blanks shown on our Wood Blanks page.

Geometries:

The New Serengeti Custom Rifle is available in any of our six most popular stock geometries:

The African: Our elegant full-weight stock geometry suitable for all cartridges but especially the magnum cartridges from 7mm Rem. Mag. up to 458 Lott. Usually weighing in between 8 and 10 pounds without scope.
The Walk-About: Our delightful mid-weight stock geometry suitable for cartridges from 22-250 up to the lesser magnums. Usually weighing in between 7 and 8 pounds without scope.
The Tigercat: When less is more, the Tigercat geometry provides a slim, compact lightweight rifle that once picked up, is very hard to put down. Suitable for the smaller cartridges up to the classic 30-06. Usually weighing in between 5.7 and 6.5 pounds without scope. (Requires Tigercat Action Upgrade: $500; and available in right hand only)
The Merlin: A classic full-size stock geometry perfected by the late Merlin "Mel" Smart during his 50 year career in stock-making. Suitable for all cartridges up to the largest magnums, and usually weighing in between 8 and 10 pounds.
The Artemis: Designed by women for women, the Artemis geometry is specially tailored to fit the female anatomy for more comfortable shooting and improved accuracy. Suitable for all cartridges. Usually weighing in between 7 and 9 pounds.
The Artemis-Tigercat: An adaptation of all of the unique Artemis design traits but in the delightfully light-weight Tigercat configuration. Usually weighing in around 6 pounds. (Requires Tigercat Action Upgrade: $500; and available in right hand only)

With the exception of the Artemis geometries which utilize the special Artemis comb, each of these geometries is available in your choice of a Hunter Monte Carlo comb, or an American style straight comb. While the Tigercat geometries are available only in right hand versions, each of the others is available in both right and left hand.

Deluxe Wrap-Around Checkering:

The New Serengeti Custom Rifle includes our deluxe, fine-line wrap-around checkering—all done by hand—as standard. Our trademark Diamond Fleur Wrap-Around Checkering and other checkering patterns are available as options.

Exhibition Grade Wood Finish:

Our Museum Grade wood finish featured on the Kilimanjaro Rifle is the finest, toughest and most beautiful in the industry. Our Exhibition Grade Wood Finish is the second finest and comes standard on the New Serengeti Custom Rifle. Designed specifically for rugged field use, and to keep looking beautiful year after year in the harshest of conditions, it is a hand-rubbed tung-oil/polyurethane base finish applied and seasoned utilizing the special procedures developed during our extensive R&D efforts. Our premier Museum Grade wood finish is available as an option.

Ceramic Metal Coating:

Kilimanjaro's premium ceramic metal coating is standard in your choice of colors, providing excellent metal and corrosion protection in an elegant non-glare finish for field use.

Quality Assurance:

Rigorous quality assurance throughout the production process is provided with multiple pre-final and final inspections, and final accuracy testing.
